Public urged to have confidence in the Ghana Audit Service

Twifo Praso, Aug. 29, GNA – Mr Kwesi Ahenkorah, Central Regional Chairman of the Ghana Audit Service Centenary Committee, has urged the general public to have confidence in the Service to enable it to deliver its mandate as enshrined in article 187 of the 1992 Constitution.

Mr Ahenkorah made the call when workers of his Office in collaboration with Zoomlion Ghana Limited undertook a three-hour clean up exercise at the Twifo-Praso Government Hospital as part of activities of its centenary celebration.

In addition, the Service donated an amount of GH¢500.00 to the children’s ward of the hospital.

Mr Ahenkorah said the centenary celebration was designed to bring to the fore activities of the Audit Service for the public to appreciate its work as safeguarding the nation’s purse to check waste.

He urged its clients to see the modern day auditing as a way of adding value to their work but not witch hunting.

Mrs Sarah Ampomah, Nursing Manager of Twifo Praso Government Hospital, who received the donation on behalf of the hospital, said a plan had been drawn towards the expansion of the children’s ward at the hospital to accommodate more children.

Mrs Ampomah pledged to ensure that the money was used for its intended purpose and appealed to other stakeholders as well as philanthropists to support it financially to help complete the expansion project on schedule.
