Nkawkaw, Sept. 2, GNA – The Kwahu West District Chief Executive, Nana Kofi Kesse, has called on civil and public servants to co-operate and put their knowledge and expertise at the disposal of the district assembly to promote development in the district.
He said since civil and public servants were trained with tax-payers’ money, they should be loyal to the government and give their maximum support to all policies and development programmes of the assembly.
Nana Kesse made the call at the first Heads of Department meeting of the newly created Kwahu West District Assembly at Nkawkaw on Thursday.
He said the district faced problems such as sanitation, congestion, utility services, poor basic educational infrastructure, which needed the co-operation of the decentralized departments and agencies to solve, in other to move the district to a municipal status within the shortest possible period.
The DCE announced that the assembly had acquired land for the construction of a biogas plant for the disposal of large quantity of solid and liquid waste to improve environmental sanitation in the district.
The Acting District Fire Officer, Mr Addae Barffour, appealed for the construction of water hydrants at Nkawkaw, as well as access roads to all the suburbs and public buildings to facilitate their performance during fire outbreaks.
The Acting District Director of Education, Mr Alfred Kofi Osei, commended the assembly for providing office accommodation for the District Education office and appealed for the construction of depots for the storage of large quantity of text and exercise books that would be sent to the district.
He appealed for the construction of teacher’s quarters at the rural areas for the newly trained teachers to accept postings to remote areas and also urged the assembly to sponsor teacher-trainees to be posted to the district after training to improve the standard of education in the district.
The District Co-ordinating Director, Mr Kingsley Adjei Boahene, on behalf of the Heads of Department, assured the DCE of their co-operation to move the district forward.
