Public sector workers to enjoy 20 per cent base pay increase

Accra, Aug. 8, GNA – The Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee (PSJSNC) on Monday agreed a 20 per cent salary increase on the Base Pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure.

A communiqué issued in Accra said the Pay Point Relativity was 1.7 per cent while the daily base Pay was GH¢4.10, which is a 20 per cent increase over the 2010 base Pay of GH¢3.42 per cent.

The communiqué was signed by Mr George Smith-Graham, Chief Executive of the Fair wages and Salaries Commission for the government and Mr Kofi Asamoah, Genral Secretary of the TUC for organised labour.

The PSJSN comprises the Government represented by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, Ministries of Finance and Economic Planning, Employment and Social Welfare on one hand and organised labour, Associations and Institutions.

The communiqué said the effective date of implementation of the 2011 Single spine Salary Structure is January 1, 2011.

It said payment of the new salary would be effected at the end of September 2011.
