Public forum on Ebola vaccine trial opens in Ho

The widely publicised sensitization forum on the impending Ebola vaccine trial in Ghana is set to continue in the Volta region.

The Volta regional capital Ho has been selected among a host of other areas to benefit from the sensitisation campaign.

Officials of the Food and Drugs Authority, Ghana Health Service and scientists are billed to speak at the forum.

The forum began in Accra then to Kintampo before heading to Navrongo yesterday.

The government of Ghana had agreed with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other stakeholders to embark on the vaccines trial in Hohoe in the Volta region, but was met with stiff opposition from pressure groups after Starrfmonline.com broke the news.

A lot of Ghanaians have raised concerns about the trial, fearing the disease could spread in Ghana although officials have served notice the exercise is not harmful.

Although the health minister Alex Segbefia ordered the suspension of the exercise, Parliament summoned him to appear before it to explain the exercise.
