Public advised not to tamper with pay phones

Takoradi, Jan. 13, GNA- Mrs Victoria Osafo, Public Relations Officer at the Western Regional Office of the Ghana Telecom, on Monday advised the public to desist from tampering with telephone booths. She was speaking to the Press after the second draw of the Regional Pay Phone Cards Raffle in Takoradi.

Mrs Osafo said some pay phones and booths have been vandalized in an attempt in an attempt to make free calls.

She said the security agencies had been informed about the problem and efforts were being made to bring those responsible to book. Mrs Osafo urged the public to be vigilant and assist the security agencies to bring the situation under control to enable the company to continue to deliver good services.

She said patronage of pay telephones in the region had increased because of lack of lines for the installation of more fixed telephones. Mrs Osafo said this had prompted the company to increase the number of pay telephones in the area.

Mr Michael Andoh of Tarkwa who won the raffle received one million cedis as his prize.
