Psychiatric nurses to boycott duty today

Psychiatric nurses are expected to boycott official duties today after their ultimatum to government for decent working conditions failed.

The nurses are angry at unpaid salary arrears and indecent conditions at work.

The parent body for all nurses, the registered nurses association, wants the aggrieved mental health nurses to hold on and join a planned class action against government in two weeks.

But the aggrieved mental health nurses do not appear convinced. One of the leaders at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital told Starr News their lives are in danger and would not compromise on it.

“If we get what we are asking for fine, but if not we are not going to risk our lives because if we die today we will be replaced easily so what happens to our families?… We won’t take such risks and endanger our lives,” the nurse said.
