Psychiatric hospital risks shutdown

The Accra Psychiatric Hospital risks being shut down by managers who have sent a distress call to government to provide them with logistics.

The authorities started repatriating the over 300 patients on Monday, October 31, in a bid to decongest the facility to enable it feed and give care to the lean number that remain.

The hospital is struggling to operate smoothly compelling nurses to start an indefinite strike Monday to protest the indecent conditions at work.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital, Dr. Pinaman Appau, told Starr News government cannot afford to waste time in addressing the challenges of the hospital.

Meanwhile, the striking nurses have cautioned government against the disjointed solutions to their concerns.
