PSWU donates to New Life Home in Kumasi

Kumasi, April 1, GNA – The women’s wing of the Public Services Workers Union (PSWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) on Friday donated a cash of two million cedis and some items valued at eight million cedis to the New Life Home for Children and Old Age in Kumasi. The items included clothing, shoes, rice, sugar, assorted soaps, drinks and fruits.

Madam Christiana Carl Opare, National Chairperson of the Union, who made the donation, said it was their “widow’s mite” towards the upkeep of the inmates.

She said the donation was also to serve as an opportunity for the members of the union to interact with the children to enable them feel that they were part of the society.

Sister Florian Xess, Supervisor in-charge of the Home, who received the donation, said there were 78 inmates in the facility including 40 children some of whom were suffering from tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS.
