PSGL donates generator to Prestea Hospital

Tarkwa (W/R) April 2 GNA Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited (PSGL) has donated a generator valued at 162 million cedis to Prestea Hospital at a ceremony at Prestea on Friday.

Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Ayensu, Wassa West District Chief Executive commended PSGL for thinking about the health needs of the people and providing such a gadget which would enhance quality health delivery in the area.

He said it is the wish of the elders in the area that PSGL would succeed in its business endeavours in order to honour its social responsibilities.

Mr Ayensu said providing such facility would promote the living standards of the people in the area.

Mr Joe Wiafe, Managing Director of PSGL said the company focuses on education and health more than other areas because with good health and qualification, people from the area would grow to take over the company. He said the company has adopted the children’s ward of the hospital.

Mr Wiafe said workers of PSGL and their dependants attend hospital here and it is not out of place if the company helps in the provision of its needs.

Osagyefo Kwamina Enimil VI, paramount chief of Wassa Fiase Taditional Area thanked government for not closing down PSGL. He also thanked PGSL for providing the generator and pleaded for regular maintenance to prolong its lifespan.

Dr Kennedy Azantiklow, senior medical officer in-charge of the hospital said the hospital often experiences power outages, which calls for some cases that could be treated in the hospital to be referred to other hospitals.

He said with the provision of the generator, such cases would no more be referred.

Dr Azantilow mentioned some of the problems facing the hospital as absence of ambulance, poor infrastructure and lack of health personnel, especially a pharmacist.
