Provision store and a vehicle burnt at Dawhenya

Dawhenya (G/A) Feb. 20, GNA – Unknown persons on Saturday dawn destroy= ed and set ablaze 93Nsu Nyame Ye” provision store and a Land Rover Freeland= er, 2006 model, at Dawhenya in the Greater Accra Region.

The store belonged to Madam Enerstina Ladze Nortey while the vehicle belonged to Mr Henry Gatienu. The two are related to Mrs Agnes Norkai Sai Nortey, who is currently engaged in a land dispute. Speaking in an interview with GNA Mr Gatienu said he suspected that the owners of buildings that were recently destroyed by her sister Mrs Nortey, after winning a court case, might have burnt his car. Mr Gatienu said a police night patrol team and the Ghana National Fire Service assisted in putting out the fire. The case has been reported to the Prampram Police.

Mrs Nortey said an Accra High Court granted their family the power to demolish all unauthorised structures on their land after they won a nine-year-old land dispute in October 2010. She said the demolishing exercise has been temporarily stalled because some of the affected persons went to court to file a stay of execution. The case would come up for hearing on February 28 2011.
