Provide skill training for the youth

Asamankese (E/R), April. 30, GNA- An Educationist has urged the business community and churches to help provide skill training to people in the deprived areas, instead of seeking only their interest. This is because the development and empowerment of unskilled youth was of great concern to the government, since they were the future leaders of the country.

Madam Rosina B. Otchere, Headmistress of the Topease Methodist School near Asamankese in the Eastern Region, made the statement on Wednesday, when he met a cross section of the people and other stakeholders here.

She noted that the initial moral training of children was fundamentally the responsibility of parents, and that role should not be relinquished to the school, otherwise they would fall victims of child delinquency and other related vices.

Madam Otchere argued that it was the duty of parents to set the pace for the general training of their children before teachers come in to help enhance the virtues already acquired by them at home.

The Headmistress asked parents to show commitment to their children’s education, since as stakeholders, they must help to redeem the fallen standards of education in the district.

According to her, efforts to provide quality education would fail, if teachers were not competent and hardworking, adding that, education must equip a person to effectively participate in one’s community and contribute to the development process.
