Tema, Aug 17, GNA – Some members of Musama Disco Christo Church have appealed to the government to institute an investigation into alleged harassment of members of the church by the Central Regional Police Command.
Speaking at a press conference held in Tema on Saturday Mr Frank Acquah, a member, alleged that for some time now the Central Regional police have been interfering in the activities of the church and intimidates members.
He said in 2002 the church’s pastor, Miritaiah Jonah Jehu-Appiah, mis-conducted himself for which a legal action was taken against him and the court recommended his suspension.
Based on the court’s ruling, a three-man interim management committee was appointed in 2006 to replace him and to administer the church but “since then the police in Central Region have been intimidating the members in all our activities”, Mr Acquah said.
Mr Acquah deplored police presence at every event that took place in the church as though there was something wrong “but Musama is a peaceful church and we are all united”.
