Prophet Nkansah On Police Wanted List

The Accra Police Command has given the leader of the New Vision Party (NVP), Prophet Nkansah up to Wednesday to show up or get arrested.

Prophet Nkansah is reported to have bribed two officials of the Electoral Commission – the Director of Elections, Isaac Kofi Asomaning and Director of Election Logistics, Asante Kissi – to facilitate the filing of his nomination forms to enable him contest the December general elections.

The two were therefore arrested by the Police on Monday for allegedly taking Gh¢1,600 bribe from the leadership of the NVP but were later granted Police enquiry bail after being charged with bribery and corruption.

The NVP flagbearer was invited by the Police to assist in investigations of the matter, but the Prophet failed to turn up.

DSP Freeman Tettey, the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Police Command, speaking to an Accra based radio station, explained that “he has assured the CID that he will be coming so tomorrow [Wednesday] will be the last day then we will advise ourselves on the next line of action which obviously is the legal procedure which we will have to use.”

Meanwhile, the two EC officials are expected to return to the Greater Accra Police Command on Wednesday for further investigations to be conducted.
