Properties worth 676, 514 cedis lost to fire outbreak

The Ghana National Fire Service recorded 379 fire incidents in 2013 in the Western Region, estimated to damage property worth Ghc676, 514.

Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO) Obeng Dankwa Dwamena who gave the data to the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi said domestic fires accounted for 134, vehicular, 71; industrial, 27 and commercial, 26.

The rest are electrical, 38; bush fires, 45; institutional, 6 and other fires 32.

ACFO Dwamena said 17 people suffered various degrees of injuries with five deaths.

He asked the public to be cautious particularly during the harmattan season in order to avoid fire outbreak.
