Promote nation’s culture for rapid development – Bank Manger

Kumasi, June 4, GNA – Mr Kwasi Ankomah, Supervising Manager of the Atwima Rural Bank, has attributed indiscipline and disregard for the values of the society to the neglect of the country’s rich cultural and traditional heritage.

The re-enforcement and effective promotion of the nation’s rich cultural norms and practices especially puberty rites is crucial to instil moral sanity, respect and discipline among the youth, he said. He told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Kumasi on Friday that the adoption of foreign lifestyles and attitudes was undermining the traditional hospitality and friendliness the country was reputed for.

Mr Ankomah noted that the country’s socio-economic progress and sustainability depended on the promotion of its rich cultural and traditional values and practices.

He advocated for the adoption of a common national dialect as a medium of communication to give true meaning to the country’s identity and personality.

“All the developed and industrialised nations achieved their successes through the strict promotion of their common local dialect, which gave them a common identity for accelerated development,” he said. Mr Ankomah asked Ghanaians to desist from acts and attitudes that would degrade the country’s cultural values and practices, adding, “The cultural identity of a nation promotes patriotism and nationalism for rapid development”.
