Project consultants blamed for shoddy works

Kumasi, March 3, GNA- Mr Opoku-Agyemang Prempeh, Managing Director of Lakayana Company, a building and road construction firm, has described as unfair the public tendency to blame contractors for shoddy works.

He said contractors did not operate independently since they execute projects under the supervision of consultants.

Mr Prempeh who was speaking with the Ghana News Agency in an interview said there were attimes consultants failed to report to duty to make sure that contractors work according to specifications. He said there was no way a contractor will deliberately execute poor quality works if a consultant is closely supervising his or her works.

Mr Prempeh expressed the need for contractors to form an umbrella group to defend their interests.
