Programme to ensure accelerated agric production launched

Bibiani (W/R), Aug 16, GNA – The Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District Directorate of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), has launched a programme to accelerate agriculture especially food production.

Mr Francis Nkrumah-Antiedu, District Director of Agriculture, speaking at the launch of the programme, said the programme was to reach remote and marginalized areas with the needed services. He said it would promote micro and small-scale enterprises to raise the capacity for income generation.

Mr Nkrumah-Antiedu said the programme would also develop, evaluate and disseminate new interventions and methods for income generation for farmers and other stakeholders to achieve results.

He announced that the district had been divided into three zones, sub zones and eight agricultural operational areas to be manned by agricultural extension agents to ensure effective work. 16 Aug 04
