Programme on small arms to be launched

Wa, May 10, GNA – The Ghana National Commission on Small Scale Arms (GNCSA) has started a campaign against the proliferation of small arms and light weapons in the country.

This will curb the acquisition of small arms that has pervaded West Africa and spreading in the country. A statement said the programme was organised by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

He said the sensitisation programme, which would be held at Wa on May 20, would be repeated in other regions to educate more people on the issue.

The statement said small arms were not only devastating but were also creating panic and general fear in people throughout the country. It called on people who have adequate information on small arms in the country not to hesitate to provide information.
