Professor Martey should name bribers – KSM

Given that naming and shaming is an essential part of the fight against corruption in the country, there is the need for the outgoing Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev Professor Emmanuel Martey, to name the politicians who attempted to buy his silence, ace comedian Kweku Sintim-Misa (KSM) has suggested.

Rev Martey, a critic of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), in his last address to the media on Tuesday, August 30, had said a political party he refused to name tried bribing him with $100,000, a Land Cruiser, and a house at Trasacco Valley so he would ease his bashing of the Mahama administration.

He said: “The same party brought $100,000 [to bribe me]. They were lucky I did not have dogs.

“You cannot get me with corruption,” adding: “Never ever should any politician or political activist go to a pastor or minister with money in order to influence him; if you do that you’ll be in trouble.”

However, KSM found his failure to name the politicians who attempted bribing him worrying since such persons deserved to be shamed to deter others.

Speaking on the matter on Celebrity Fan Zone on Viasat 1 on Saturday September 10, KSM said: “How do we start [dealing with corruption]? By naming and shaming. …At a point he said if he had dogs he would have unleashed the dogs. Well you don’t have the dogs, so unleash their names.

“Name them, shame them, and the action that should follow, should follow. That is the way to do it (fight against corruptions).”
