Profane music contributes to indiscipline

Accra, May 10, GNA- Rev. E. Kissiedu-Ayi, Ga Presbytery Clerk of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has noted that the use of profane lyrics has contributed to indiscipline among the youth.

He noted that some musicians who use profane lyrics fail to realise the effects such songs have on the society.

He therefore, advised them to use their talents to advise the youth to become useful adults.

Rev. Kissiedu-Ayi was preaching the sermon at a thanksgiving service to round off the Eighth Annual Delegates’ Conference of the Kaneshie District Presbyterian Church Choirs’ Union at the Mallam near Accra on Sunday.

The three-day conference, which was held under the theme “Come Let Us Walk in the Light of the Lord”, was attended by over 100 delegates from the 17 branches of the union.

He said although there are a lot of gospel songs on the market, they were not having the desired impact on the society since some of the artistes are only interested in making money.

Rev. Kissiedu-Ayi reminded choristers that they have a powerful weapon to reach out to the lost ones and how to win their souls to Christ.

Mr. Seth Nii Amoo Darku, President of the Union noted that since choristers preach through songs they have to live above reproach to enable them to be worthy of emulation.

“Let us stand firm in this call so that when Christ comes, we may be found worthy”, he said.

Mr. Darku said a District Standing Choir has been formed to represent the union and thanked choristers who have devoted their time to be members of the choir.
