Prof. Tagoe serves on Board of International Universities

Accra, July 30, GNA – Professor Clifford Nii Boi Tagoe, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana (UG), has been elected a full member to the Administrative Board of the International Association of Universities (IAU).

A statement on Wednesday signed by Mrs. Stella Amoa, Acting Director of the Public Affairs of UG, said Prof. Tagoe, also a member of the Council of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, was elected at the 13th Conference of the IAU in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The statement said the Administrative Board, which consisted of members from Africa, the Netherlands, Asia, Pacific and Europe, provided direction and expert advice on all major issues addressed by the Association.

It said the IAU, which was established in 1948, and was sponsored by the United Nations Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), served as a global forum where higher education leaders gathered to discuss, examine and take action on issues of common interest to achieve shared growth through cooperation. It said, in addition to being a member of the IAU, the UG was also a member of the Association of African Universities (AAU), the Association of Commonwealth Universities and the League of World Universities, which comprised 47 of renowned research universities worldwide.
