Prof Alidu Seidu Mahama wins Tamale Central NDC primaries

Professor Alidu Seidu Mahama, a lecturer in the Political Science Department at the University of Ghana, has emerged victorious in the Tamale Central parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He secured 840 votes out of 1,511 valid ballots cast, beating 11 other contenders in what was a hotly contested race.

His closest challenger, former Tamale Metropolitan Assembly Mayor Abdul Hanan Gundadoo, polled 536 votes, while the remaining candidates shared the rest of the ballots.

Mariama Naana Salifu – 5

Prof. Abdul Razak Abubakari – 4

Muleika Salisu – 3

In all, 1,511 delegates voted out of a total of 1,551 registered, with one ballot rejected.

 

After being declared the winner, Professor Mahama expressed gratitude to the party, the delegates, and his fellow contenders for what he described as a clean and competitive campaign.
