Private sector urged to assist the Govt promote quality education

Accra Sept 16, GNA – Sheikh Ibrahim C. Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister on Friday called on the private sector to collaborate with the Government to promote quality education in the country. He said the Government alone could not run the education sector and stressed the need for other stakeholders to participate to ensure the delivery of quality education.

Sheikh Quaye made the call when presenting 727 dual desks for distribution to some public and private schools in the Ayawaso Central Constituency.

The desks worth 174 million cedis were provided by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to augment provision of furniture for the schools.

Sheikh Quaye said the donation to private schools demonstrated the Government’s commitment to assist all schools both in the public and private sectors.

He said provision of the desks were the first step in enhancing quality education in the Constituency.

Mrs. Mary Quaye, Metropolitan Director of Education who received the desks expressed appreciation for the gesture.
