Greenhill (GAR), June 23, – A project under which technical support services will be provided for local small and medium-scale enterprises to strengthen the private sector’s managerial capacity was launched at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in Accra today. The Enterprise Support Services For Africa (ESSA) project is organising the training programmes to help entrepreneurs to properly manage their businesses. Services to be provided under the project being run for three years on a pilot basis, among others, include assisting local businessmen to develop and implement management information systems, design business financial plans and export programmes. The project is being financed by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)/International Finance Corporation grant of 3.43 million Canadian dollars. It is the third in the series of courses organized under the project since last year. Mr C.A. Haldane-Lutterodt, Chief Director of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, said the project has been designed specifically to complement existing ones to help develop the private sector “which is at the heart of the government’s efforts at accelerated development and growth.”
