Private schools warned against overloading of buses

Agona Swedru, Aug 12, GNA – The Agona Swedru Divisional Command of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) has issued a final warning to private school owners in the municipality to stop overloading pupils to and from school on their buses.

Superintendent of Police Samuel Yankey, the Divisional Commander of MTTU, told newsmen that the warning followed refusal of the owners and managers to heed to the advice given by the unit.

“The MTTU will wage a relentless war on them when school re-opens in September,” he said.

Mr Yankey said private schools had flouted traffic laws and warned that they would be prosecuted if they continued to overload their buses to the disadvantage of the children.

He said the overloading of the children was against traffic regulations and it also affected the health of the children.

Mr Yankey appealed to the Agona West Municipal Directorate of Ghana Education Service (GES) to take the matter up and caution them to desist from the practice.
