Private schools plead with GES for logistics supply

New Edubiase (Ash), April 11, GNA – Private school proprietors in the Adansi South District have appealed to the Ghana Education Service (GES) to support them through the supply of some logistics. They said assistance by way of provision of registers, textbooks, chalk and furniture could help bring down the cost of operating the schools.

“That invariably would influence the fees we charge to make it more affordable”.

The proprietors made the appeal at a meeting with officials of the GES at New Edubiase.

Mr Stephen Mensah, the District Chairman of the Association of Private School Proprietors, said since they play important part in efforts at making quality education available to all Ghanaian children, it was not out of place for the state to give them a push. He asked that their teachers should also be made to benefit from in-service training programmes organised by the GES to update teachers. ”Most teachers of the private schools are not professionally trained, so such an arrangement will help to enhance their teaching skills and performance.”
