Private school teachers in Gomoa West end Workshop

Reverend Otu Ankrah, Vice Chairman of the Gomoa West District branch of the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS), has urged teachers in private schools to work harder to deliver quality education to their pupils.

Rev. Ankrah made the call when he addressed the closing session of a day’s workshop for 117 teachers from 32 private schools drawn from seven circuits of the Gomoa West District at Apam.

The circuits were Apam, Gomoa Eshiem, Gomoa Tarkwa, Odina-Oguaa, Gomoa Ankamu, Gomoa Dawurampong and Gomoa Ngyiresi.

The workshop, organized by the Association, was to enhance the development of private schools in the district.

Topics treated included Methods of Teaching, Preparation of Lesson Notes and Marking and Closing of Register.

Mr Emmanuel K. Quarshie of the Crystal Preparatory School Apam, who was a Resource Person, urged the participants to let what they have been taught guide them.

Mr Hayford Edu Quaye, chairman of the Gomoa West District branch of NAPS, said in spite of non-payment of fees in public schools, private schools were recording significant enrollment, and explained that this was due to quality education delivered by private schools.

Mr Quaye, therefore, entreated private schools to continue to insist on quality education, to encourage parents to send their wards to those schools.

Pastor Joseph Jehu-Appiah of the Mephibosheth School at Gomoa Ankamu, who chaired the function, appealed to the participants to go back and implement the knowledge they have acquired, to help promote education in the area.
