Private Community Health Training School opens in Breman Asikuma

Breman Asikuma (C/R) Oct. 29, GNA – The Paramount Chief of Breman Asikuma Traditional, Odeefo Amoakwa Buadu VIII, has called on the public to recognise education as key to national development. He therefore advised Ghanaians to pay adequate attention to the education of their wards.

Odeefo Amoakwa Buadu VIII who is also President of Breman Asikuma Traditional Council, made the call at the inauguration of Christian Nurses Training School at Breman Asikuma. The theme for the occasion was: “Delivering Quality Health Care: The role of the private sector.” He commended the sponsors of the school for their contribution towards the promotion of higher education in the area and appealed to the people to take advantage of the school, to facilitate their educational pursuit.

Mrs Yvonne Hayfron, member of the Ghana Midwives and Nurses Council, said health care delivery in the country should not be the duty of the government alone. She said number of medical facilities in the country lack the human resource base to cater for the increasing number of patients. Mrs Hayfron said, the establishment of the Nurses Training School would assist augment the situation.

She advised the school authorities to do carry out research in order to turn out quality nurses. Mrs Paulina Essuman, President of the school, said the academic facility, which opens in November, would offer certificates in Community Health Nursing, Health Assistant Clinical and Diploma in General Nursing. She said students of the school would use the local Our Lady of Grace Hospital as practical training centre.
