Accra Sept. 17, GNA – Prison Officers at the James Fort Prison in Accra on Tuesday rejected a suspect George Kojo Sedogah, who possessed both female and male reproductive organs – a hermaphrodite.
The Officers said they could neither offer him/her a place at the female nor male prison.
Police Sergeant John Boadu, a Court Warrant Officer, who escorted him/her to the Prison, told Journalists that Sedogah and one Thomas Antwi were granted bail by an Accra circuit court for stealing wax prints from their employer.
Sedogah pleaded guilty but the court presided over by Mrs Elizabeth Ankomah granted him/her 20 million cedis bail with one surety to reappear on October 13 for sentencing but he/she could not meet the bail term.
According to the Sgt Boadu he therefore sent him/her to the James Fort Prison but was refused admission following a body search.
He said during the search a sanitary pad was found under Sedogah’s male organ and this made the officers curious and when they probed further they discovered the pad was over the female organ.
The Police, therefore, sent him/her back to Weija Police Station where the case originated from and kept him/her in police custody. He/She was brought to the court again on Wednesday and it ordered that he/she should be kept at the Police station.
The Police said Sedogah was a houseboy and Antwi was a sales boy for a Businessman at Weija.
In February this year, the Businessman imported some wax prints from Holland and left them in the care of Antwi but the two conspired and stole 18.2 million cedis worth.
