Principal of NTC Debunks Allegation

Bolgatanga , May 16, GNA- Mr Musah Moomin, Principal of the Bolgatanga Nursing Training College (NTC) on Friday, debunked allegations being peddled by first year students of the School that the NTC had charged unapproved fees, thereby soaring their bills. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, the Principal explained that the first year students were only made to pay an approved admission fee of GH¢337.5 stipulated by the Directorate of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports.

He said by the school’s regulations, the students were also expected to pay GH¢8.00 for logistics and Practical Examination during their clinical attachment at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital. He said this would enable the hospital to maintain or replace old equipment to facilitate their training.

“The Management of the School understands the poor background in which the students are coming from and would not charge higher fees to the detriment of parents”, the Principal emphasized. He said the school fees were paid through bank drafts to the school and asked parents to constantly monitor their children in the payment of their fees since some of the students were likely to ask for more monies supposedly to pay fees.

In an interview with the GNA, the President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), Mr Timothy Mahama, agreed with the Principal version, saying that, the school only charged the approved admission fees.
