Primary School Heads Attend Guidance/Counselling Workshop in Bolga

Bolgatanga, Jan, 12, GNA – A two-day guidance and counselling workshop has been organized in Bolgatanga for heads of primary schools in the Bolgatanga Municipality.

Participants discussed topics such as the objectives of Guidance and Counselling, Career Guidance, HIV/AIDS and the Need for Counselling in basic schools.

In an address, the Municipal Co-ordinator of Guidance and Counselling, Ms Amina Issah, observed that effective guidance and counselling would improve discipline and create a favourable environment for effective teaching and learning in schools.

“With proper counselling, even non-performing teachers can be brought on board and made to live up to expectation,” she added. Ms Issah cautioned against excessive alcoholism and absenteeism, saying that such acts often tarnish the image of teachers.
