Priest appeals to politicians not to make huge promises

Agona Kwanyako (C/R), June 18, GNA – Rev Fr Peter Amoah, parish priest of the Agona Swedru Saint Anthony Catholic Church, has appealed to politicians not make big promises that are difficult to fulfil. Rev. Fr Amoah said this in a sermon at a thanksgiving service in honour of Mr John Oremus Arkoh, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Agona East at Kwanyako.

He said when politicians failed to deliver campaign promises it would be difficult for them to come back to the electorate next election time to appeal for votes. Rev Father Amoah said it was important for the country to continue to practice democracy and appealed to persons put in high positions to accept criticisms in good faith but suggested that the criticisms should be constructive.

Rev Fr Amoah urged Ghanaians to always speak the truth about people in high positions especially, government officials to promote peace in the country.

He appealed to the DCE to see his appointment as timely one to salvage the people from diseases, hunger, and other social related issues. Mr Arkoh pledged to work hard to unite the people irrespective of their political affiliations to move the district forward.
