Prices of seed cotton increased

Tamale, May 17, GNA – The management of cotton companies on Monday announced the prices of seed cotton for the 2000/2001 season.

Grade one seed cotton has been increased from 700 cedis to 900 cedis per kilogram and grade two seed cotton from 580 cedis to 700 cedisper kilogram. The companies have also agreed to reduce tractor-ploughing cost from 60,000 cedis per unit to 50,000 cedis per unit.

A release from the cotton companies said the decisions followed a series of negotiations between them and farmers’ representatives from all cotton producing zones in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions.
