Prez Palace funding must be doubled

A member of parliament’s Finance Committee, Maxwell Kofi Jumah says he will propose to the Committee to double the 30 million dollars voted for the Presidential Palace complex.

The 30 million dollar project currently underway at the Flagstaff House in Accra is being financed with a loan from India.

Government is however pushing for an increase in the budget.

Mr. Jumah and some MP’s on the Finance Committee joined the Finance Minister on tour of the project on Wednesday.

Speaking to a local rado station, JOYFM, Jumah said additional funding is required to complete the Presidential complex.

He said initially he held the view that the amount originally voted for the project should be adequate, however after seeing the project at first hand, he is convinced a top up would be justified.

Hs said he would support any call for the top up which will ensure a good job is done of the project and also to serve any future need, and he believed a 100 percent increase would not be out of place.
