Prez Mills inspects projects in Koforidua

Koforidua, June 01, GNA – President John Atta Mills on Tuesday inspected a 2.3 million-Euro Electricity Company of Ghana sub-station project at Adweso in Koforidua.

The inspection of the project formed part of his three-day working visit to the

Eastern Region. Work on the sub-station started in 2009 and was completed early this year. President Mills praised the contractors for a good job done and expressed the

hope that the facility would improve power supply in the regional capital. President Mills also inspected progress of work on a five-storey lecture hall block at the Koforidua Polytechnic and expressed satisfaction at the progress of work.

He said the Polytechnic would soon be provided with other facilities. President Mills told the students that the government regarded polytechnic education as a very important component of the 93Better Ghana Agenda” and promised that within the next few years the institution would see tremendous improvement.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Prof Reynolds Okae, expressed happiness that it was the first time a sitting President had visited the institution and pleaded with President Mills to convert the Polytechnic into a university since there was no public university in the Eastern Region.

The President later inaugurated a two-kilometre Koforidua by-pass including four

new traffic lights on the same road. 0
