Prestea Huni/Valley district disburses 70,000 cedis to hundred Persons with Disability

The Prestea Huni/Valley District has disbursed items and cash worth 70,000 Ghana cedis to 100 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) to assist them in their various trades.

The items include deep freezers, grinding machines, bicycles, wheel chairs, cutlass sharpening machines, embroidering and over lock machines and cash sums which were requested by the beneficiaries themselves.

Speaking at the function in Bogoso on Saturday, Mr. Robert Wisdom Cudjoe, District Chief Executive of Prestea Huni/Valley, said the items were funded from the two percent of the district assembly’s common fund allocated to PWDs.

He said out of the four hundred application forms the assembly received from PWDs within the district for various assistance; 100 of the applicants had been sorted out adding that the remaining three hundred would also receive their assistance soon.

Mr. Cudjoe said for every country to achieve its mission, it needed to bring all aboard including PWDs for accelerated development.

He, therefore, tasked the beneficiaries to use what they had received to expand their businesses which will earn them income to cater for their families.

Mr. Samuel Kwaku Quansah, Western Regional Chairman of the Ghana Federation of the Physically Disabled, on behalf of his colleagues, thanked the assembly and government for the kind gesture.
