Pressure Mounts On NPP National Executives

Supporters of NPP in five constituencies in the Greater Accra Region have strongly criticized the national executives for trying to impose parliamentary candidates on them.

The supporters this morning besieged the headquarters of NPP, singing war songs and chanting party slogan to the national executives to distance themselves from activities of their respective constituencies.

The supporters came from the Ayawaso West Wuogon, Odododiodioo, Tema West, Ablekum South and Weija Constituencies respectively. Some of the placards read: We want democracy to work in NPP, No imposition in NPP. Allow constituency delegates to elect their parliamentary candidates.

They asked the national executives to quickly organise primaries in their constituencies to enable delegates elect people they believe could serve both the interest of the party and the constituents. They said any attempt to impose any candidate will be resisted.

Supporters from Weija who came with four buses said all they want is that the national executives organise primaries quickly for the four parliamentary aspirants. They said they will support whoever emerges as candidate but said if the national executives proceed with their intention to impose Mrs. Ayorkor Botchwey then they will resist.

Supporters from Tema west criticized the incumbent MP, Abraham Osei Aidoo for printing his T-Shirts and posters with President Kufuor?s picture thereby creating the impressio0n that he is the party?s candidate for the December election.
