Press Statement By New Patriotic Party,Aachen Chapter

DATED MAY 28 2010 , AACHEN-GERMANY

The Aachen Chapter of the New Patriotic Party[NPP] wishes to express our concern about the pronouncements and utterances of some of the Presidential aspirants and their supporters in recent times.

Our concern is borne by the likely impact and effect this negative campaigning will have on the fortunes of our party both in the short and long term.

Much as we cherish and uphold the right to freedom of expression, we should equally be guided by the fact that the exercise of that right goes with responsibility. As such we expect and demand that the five aspirants and their supporters/sympathisers conduct their campaigns with civility, responsibility and dignity.

We are particularly dismayed and disappointed by the unmeasured statement of Mr Kwame Pianim a leading member of Pro Frimpong Boateng’s campaign team and demand that Mr Pianim should render an unqualified apology to the Party.

We wish to remind the party leadership, supporters and sympathisers that the NPP is bigger than any individual and that the interest of the Party should take precedence over individual political ambition.

What the party needs at this point in our nation’s history is to present a united front, come out with better and alternative policies that can help us win the election in 2010 and save our dear nation from the mess in which we find ourselves under the NDC government.

Ghanaians are yearning for a change and are looking up to the NPP to provide that change. We have no doubt in the ability of the NPP to rise to the challenge but divisive and unguarded pronouncements will not help our cause. Signed
