Presiding members asked to promote democracy

Sekondi, Sept. 7, GNA – Mr Joseph B. Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, said on Tuesday that the role of presiding members in the local government structure was enormous and vital for effective local governance.

He said this at the inauguration of the Western Regional Presiding Members Association (WERPMA).

Mr Aidoo called on Presiding Members to give direction and assist their District and Metropolitan Chief Executives to function effectively. Mr Philip K. Nkrumah, Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan Chief Executive, asked members of WERPMA to serve as a platform for the sharing of ideas aimed at enhancing nation building.

Nana Kwaw Ade, Presiding Member of the Wassa Amenfi District Assembly, who was elected chairman of WERPMA, said the Association aimed at supporting the Chief Executives.
