Presiding Member appeals to chiefs to release land for projects

Adaklu-Kodzobi (V/R), Oct 7, GNA – A Presiding Member has appealed to communities in the Ho District to make land available for the implementation of the President’s Special Initiative.

Mr Francis Kwaku, Presiding Member of the Assembly said, this, would enable people to establish small-scale industries for honey production, cassava processing and kente weaving among others. He made the call at this year’s “Bliza” (Corn festival) of the chiefs and people of Adaklu-Kodzobi near Ho.

Mr Kwaku reiterated the need for communities to make development the focal point of their festivals and said merry making should be given a secondary consideration.

He appealed to communities in the district to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme to improve their access to good health delivery. Togbe Dzegbale IV, Chief of Kodzobi, appealed to the Ho District Assembly for assistance to enable the people complete the community’s electrification project for which 14 concrete electricity poles have been moulded through self-help.

He also appealed to the authorities of the Ho Polytechnic to adopt the Kodzobi Junior Secondary School.

The “Bliza” was instituted to commemorate the bumper maize harvest by the community in the aftermath of the 1983 drought and famine following wide spread bushfires.
