President wishes former first couple speedy recovery

Accra, April 21, GNA – The President, Mr John Agyekum Kufuor on Friday conveyed his best wishes to former President Rawlings and his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings for speedy recovery, following a motor accident in which they were involved in Johannesburg, South Africa.

A statement issued and signed by Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Press Secretary to the President and Presidential Spokesman, said President Kufuor and the government had learnt with concern the involvement of the former first couple in an accident in Johannesburg, South Africa while en route to the University of Witswatersrand for the Africa Presidential Roundtable 2006.

It said the President also expressed his sincere gratitude to the South African authorities for the prompt medical attention provided to the former President Rawlings and his wife.
