President to deliver State of Nation Address

Accra, Jan 17, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor will deliver the State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Tuesday, January 31 in accordance with constitutional provisions.

Mr Ebenezer Sekyi-Hughes, the Speaker of Parliament, announced this at the official opening of the Second Session of the Fourth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

Mr Sekyi-Hughes also announced the programmes and activities for the weeklong celebration of the “Parliamentary Week”, which is already underway, with the climax being the National Public Forum on Thursday, January 19.

The forum would provide a platform for the public to meet and interact with MPs at the Accra International Conference Centre. Ghana’s Parliament, he said, would also have the opportunity to host the 37th conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), Africa Region during the year.
