President Returns from Pope’s funeral

Accra April 11, GNA – President J A Kufour returned to Accra on Sunday evening after attending the funeral of Pope John Paul 11.

His wife Theresa Kufour Mr Kwabena Agyepong Presidential Spokesperson, the Reverend Father Kwaning, Parish Priest of the Christ the King Catholic Church and Ambassador Daniel Kufour Osei, Secretary to the President, accompanied him.

In a brief chart with Journalist on arrival the President said the large gathering of both Christians and other religions bears testimony of how the Pope lived.

President Kufuor said that Pope John Paul was peaceful loving and reconciliatory. “In the case of conflicts across the world there are still some people to give exemplary leadership to humanity and the Pope was one of them~.

The President was met on arrival by the Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nana Skiff Addo, the Apostolic Nuncio A0rchbishop George Kocherry, Mr Ibrahim Omar, Dean of the diplomatic corps and the IGP, Mr Patrick Kwarteng Acheampong.
