President Rawlings Makes Fresh Nominations

Accra,(Greater Accra Region) 15 Oct. President Jerry John Rawlings today nominated for parliamentary approval the appointment of Mr. Mike Gizo, Member of Parliament for Shai-Osudoku, as Minister of Tourism. An official statement signed in Accra by Mr. J.L.M. Amissah, Secretary to the President, said Mr. Gizo will replace Mrs. Vida Yeboah, MP for Akwapim South, who has relinquished her position as Minister of State. President Rawlings also nominated for Parliamentary approval, Mr. Moses Asaba, MP for Nabdam as Deputy Minister of Finance, and Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, MP, for Fanteakwa as Deputy Minister of the Eastern Region. The statement said Mr. W.C. Winful, Municipal Chief Executive of Cape Coast has been relieved of his post while the resignation of Mr. R.K. Ayitey, District Chief Executive for Keta on health grounds, has been accepted by the President. The Ministers of Central and Volta Regions are to act in the places of the two Chief Executives until their replacements are made, the statement said.
