President of Mali To Visit Ghana

President Alpha Omar Konare of Mali will start a three visit to Ghana from next Monday at the invitation of President Kufour. During his stay President Konare will hold talks with his host and attend a meeting of the Sahel and West African Club being held in Accra. A statement from the Foreign Ministry says the visit will offer the two countries the opportunity to exchange views on issues of common interest at the bilateral, regional and international levels.

In particular, the two countries will explore ways of implementing the recommendations reached at the 10th Session of the Ghana ?Mali Permanent Joint Commission for Co-operation in Bamako, in October, last year. The two countries had agreed to co-operate in the scientific, technical, and commercial fields.

Mr. Konare will lay a wreath at the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and later attend a durbar to be held in his honour by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The country?s highest decoration ? the order of the Volta award will be conferred on Mr. Konare by President Kufour at the end of his visit.
