President names Secretary and “Fires” IGP

Mr. D.K. Osei, career diplomat and current Ambassador to Denmark, was yesterday appointed Secretary to the President.

A statement issued in Accra, from the office of the President, said Mr. Osei has been temporarily seconded from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Peter Nanfuri has been asked to proceed on leave.

The Director of Passports, Mr. Owusu-Poku, who has been a Commissioner of Police since 1987 and is the most senior officer in the Police Service, has been asked to act in his place.
