President John Dramani Mahama has hinted that he would move the Presidency to the Flagstaff House early next year.
He said: “An interim committee formed this year to examine the place has given the go ahead for the President to move and make use of the facility as the permanent abode of government.”
President Mahama made this known when he addressed a party for workers at the Osu Castle in Accra on Friday.
He said the Foreign Affairs Ministry located at the Flagstaff House would move to the new office at the International Student Hostel.
The president commended all the staff for their contribution towards high productivity and encouraged them to work harder to achieve the better Ghana agenda in the coming years.
He advised the workers against misusing of government property, explaining that a chunk of national revenue was spent to acquire the assets.
President Mahama appealed to the front desk staff to be courteous towards visitors to the seat of government to portray the office as the citadel of administration.
Mr Henry Mantey Newman, Chief of Staff commended the workers for exhibiting hard work over the years and promised that better conditions would be acquired through the better Ghana agenda in the next four years.
Some of the workers who had distinguished themselves over the year and those on retirement received awards for their meritorious work.
