President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated a new 37-member National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), tasking it with formulating a long-term, transformative roadmap for Ghana’s socio-economic growth.
The Commission, chaired by prominent economist Dr. Nii Moi Thompson, is expected to design strategies that transcend political transitions and ensure continuity in national development.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, President Mahama stressed the importance of a stable and inclusive framework that reflects the aspirations of all Ghanaians.
“Our citizens are increasingly demanding a national development path that is not subject to the changing winds of political cycles,” he said. “We must deliver a plan that is bold, transformative, and reflective of the collective aspirations of our people.”
The NDPC will be responsible for crafting policies that promote inclusive growth, economic stability, and sustainable development across key sectors of the economy.
President Mahama expressed confidence in the Commission’s composition, highlighting the diversity of expertise among its members and urging them to collaborate effectively in achieving their mandate.
