President Kufuor visits MP in hospital

Koforidua, Aug. 31, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Monday took time off his schedule on his four-day official tour of the Eastern Region to visit Mr David Apasera, People’s National Convention (PNC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolgatanga, who is receiving treatment at the St Joseph’s Orthopaedic Hospital at Effiduase-Koforidua.

He wished him speedy recovery and said he had instructed the Eastern Regional Minister, Dr Francis Osafo-Mensah to assist him as far as his treatment was concerned.

Mr Apasera, who got involved in a motor accident over a month ago, looked hail and hearty and thanked President Kufuor for his show of concern for him.

President Kufuor also spent a few minutes with Mr Peter Amoako, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Activist in the Juabeso Constituency in the Western Region, who is also receiving treatment following injuries he sustained in a motor accident during the 2000 Electioneering Campaign. The Catholic Bishop of Koforidua, the Most Reverend Charles Palmer-Buckle, who learnt of the President’s visit to the Catholic Hospital, rushed there and met him.

The 40-year-old hospital, which has a good reputation in West Africa in the treatment of orthopaedic cases, has among its in-patients nationals from many countries in the Sub-Region.
