President Kufuor returns home

Accra, Sept 26, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor arrived home on Monday after attending the 14th Non Aligned Movement (NAM) conference in Havana and the 61st UN General Assembly meeting in the US Briefing journalists on arrival Mr Andrew Awuni, the President’s Press Secretary, said in Havana President Kufuor reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to the principles of NAM and said there was the need to revitalise the aims of the movement.

He said in the US President Kufuor called for transparency from countries that produce nuclear weapons and also re-emphasised counter terrorism measures.

Mr Awuni said President Kufuor paid glowing tribute to Kofi Annan, UN Secretary General and attended two major heads of State summit on Darfur and Cote d’Ivoire.

He said the President also held audience with a number of world leaders including the President of Benin and King Abdullah of Jordan.
